Life has been busy busy, but good-busy.
I'm back down south at Spinster Farm. We're growing corn, beans, basil, tomatoes, peppers, jicama, squash, cucumbers, zucchini, and lavender at our community garden plot. I'm still awed like a dope by the way these big beautiful vegetables grow from the tiny vulnerable seeds that were started months ago.
I have a new job at a web design/software development company, writing content and developing the support department for a new web-based software project.
I also have a car, and my iPhone got lost/stolen at Ikea. (If that isn't the ultimate posterchild for first-world dilemma, I don't know what is!)
Other than that, I've been going to a lot of concerts, seeing some Shakespeare plays, drinking Mexican beer, gardening, playing a little guitar, redecorating, cooking, trying to keep things simple.
yay! your blog is back. I was a-wonderin' what had happened! Jicama? How does that grow? I mean, like is it a stalk? Tell me more!
ReplyDeleteHave you ever grown rosemary. Mine sprouted a few weeks ago and now it's stunted. It won't grow anymore!
The jicama plant itself is kind of vine-y, but the veggies come up out of the ground like a tuber/root things. almost like a turnip!
ReplyDeleteI tried to grow rosemary on a windowsill indoors once. I bought a little potted one a couple years ago and it didn't do too well. I've heard they just don't like being inside or confined in small pots, and do better planted in the ground. But I'm sure there's some kind of ninja magic that could make them thrive in small pots. I just harvested all the rosemary off the dried up plant and had enough to last me a few months.
Hm hm hm, jicama would be super fun to plant. I wonder if I could do that. but I don't know if I could find that here. :( And I wonder how it would grow in a pot.
ReplyDeleteMy rosemary looked so dead yesterday but I put it outside last night and now it's all happy looking. Hmmm. I just hope it grows enough that I can keep it during winter.
I have like 5 potted plants and we are leaving our apartment today to go house-sit for Gillis' parents. I am packing our plants! I don't want them to die.
until i find some time to visit, this should tide you over. <3
